Summary

Since September 2008, I have been studying for my NVQ Level 3 in Home Based Child Care while I prepare our new home for childminding.

The majority of my work experience over the last 10 years has been with children. During this time I have enhanced my child care skills and knowledge in all spheres, which has assisted in acquiring a good perception of child development and educational requirements. As play leader my role involved the setup and running of
the after school club at Bourn Primary School. This ran 5 days a week from 3
– 6pm and included completing all relevant paper work, planning and carrying
out activities, and preparing meals. The aim was to ensure the children had
fun in a safe and stimulating environment, and where necessary completed any
pre-agreed homework.

January 2005 – October 2007

Position - Nursery Nurse. Full Time

As a Nursery Nurse my role is to accept responsibility for the running and administration within a work area. This involves an age range of children from 6 months to 4 years.

My administrative duties include:

  • Liaising with parents with regards to childcare and update on their child’s progress
  • Ensuring reports are completed on each child on a regular basis
  • Preparing and setting up the nursery for open days
  • Showing potential parents around the nursery

Daily duties include:

The planning of educational and fun activities for the varying
age ranges. Monitoring the care of children within an identified age group.
Updating of each child’s record. Planning meeting with parents to discuss each
child’s progress and educational update. Dealing with telephone enquiries about
nursery care and facilities available for each child group.

I took a short term contract with an American family temporarily staying in Cambridgeshire. My duties involved the complete care and control of the children within the family unit which included twins of 10 months boy/girl and their sister who was 4.5 years old. My role was caring for all their requirements from early morning till their bed time. Organising play and educational activities to suit both ages ranges.

I accepted this full time contract taking responsibility

in age increasing to a vast range of activities, horse riding, swimming, football,
ballet.

From January 2003 – October 2004 I only worked all day on
Saturdays due to a change in the families business arrangements. During these
times besides their basic care routine, they attended extra curricular activities.

I took on a cleaning job one day a week for a local lady residing in a large home while she recovered from a hip replacement. The job involved cleaning all rooms, washing, ironing, and changing all bed linen.
